An individual who contaminated treats with sleeping medication and provided them to children at a summer program in the area has admitted sexual offences against two young males who were between nine and ten.
Jon Ruben was detained after eight children and an older person fell ill at Stathern Lodge in July.
The 76-year-old, from Ruddington in Nottinghamshire, confessed to a series of 17 offences when he stood at the judicial center on Friday.
However, he disputed one particular crime he was accused of, which was against a young boy.
The defendant was held in detention ahead of a additional proceeding on November 28th.
'Candy game'
Mary Prior KC, prosecuting, detailed the criminal behavior to the legal proceedings.
She stated his those affected were disadvantaged youngsters who were participating in a youth camp which he managed.
The defendant conducted a "sweet game" with the youngsters, the legal counsel stated, in which he would enter the children's bedrooms when they were preparing to sleep and tell them to consume candy "rapidly".
She stated to the judge the man had conducted this practice with the boys "over an extended period", and children had previously fallen ill the subsequent day.
She said Ruben had been capable of justifying this over a long period as the minors being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his family member had concerns in recently.
The legal representative added: "In the summer" his stepchild had concerns about what was going on, for good reason.
"They decided to have a look in the man's possessions."
Mrs Prior KC explained items including lubricant, ointment and medical needles were found, and his stepson notified the authorities about his worries.
She said the man continued to engage in the "candy game" with six youngsters that evening - Saturday 26 July - and they were all sick the subsequent day.
"The police had not arrived by that stage," she continued.
The oversight body, the investigative body, earlier informed that it was reviewing the police response of the incident.
The prosecutor explained the children were unable to walk properly due to their condition, so the family member notified the authorities a second time.
She said Ruben then engaged in the "treat game" in a area of five youngsters.
